🎵 Which tuner should I use for a kalimba?

A kalimba does not need a special tuner. You can use a microphone-based tuner or a contact tuner clipped to the body to pick up its vibration. It should be chromatic, meaning it can identify all notes. It can be a separate device, a computer program such as AP Tuner, or a phone app such as Cifra Club Tuner or Pitched Tuner.

Tuners respond differently to different instruments. Some have trouble detecting particular kalimba notes, especially low ones. If that happens, try another app. Holding all the other tines still can also help: even when you pluck only one, the others can vibrate sympathetically and make the tuner's task harder.
