A typical, run-of-the-mill Chinese kalimba, sold in hundreds of designs and under many names. Its 17 tines are pleasant to the touch, though the high notes are underwhelming. The sound is simple and unpretentious, but in an experienced musician's hands even this little box can sing. The timbre is muted and soft, with moderate volume. If you are not too demanding and have not discovered the wider world of these instruments, it is perfectly playable. And if price is a major factor, there is little to deliberate over: just take it and play.
